I am having the same terrible BSOD problem. The strange thing is that I loaded Hotshield back in February of 09 and the problem just started August of 09.

I searched for HssDrv.sys and this was the first page that came up. It is unfortunate that HotShield is causing the problem but great to know that when you have a problem with Vista nowadays 100's or 1000's or others are having the same problem and solving it via the Internet.

Just a warning for those that do this and install the recent windows update downloads. My desktop was not able to obtain an IP address after the updates were installed. I had to uninstall hotspot and restart my desktop to resolve the issue

the problem is solved check this link
http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/99609816/m/537007607931

==Hangfire===
ok found it, the hotspot shield adapter helper miniport crap could only be removed after going into network connections > properties > uninstall the tap vpn crap, which was still there AFTER the uninstall. Biggest load of crap *EVER* not running this piece of crap ever again. *sigh* no more hulu/nbc.com for me

I know it was probably a dumb idea, but I simply added an empty extention (hssdrv.sys.rename)to the file in both the drivers folder and programs files to see if the problem would go away.

HSS works fine and I haven't seen the BSOD since!

I just deleted the hssdrv. Hope that it works. I waited to long to do a system restore. Thank you guys. It is a shame and hotspot shield should do something because it is a good program except for the blue screen of death which makes it totally unacceptable. My next step is re-installing windows.

I had the same problem with f_ckin hotshield and I tried to uninstall the program unfortunately that damn thing still tweaks my pc.

Try to delete hssdrv.sys on your system 32's driver folder

C://windows/system32/driver/hssdrv.sys

and then disable hotshield on your device manager and uncheck hotshield on your network properties. Whoala BSOD is gone .

That's a lot of money for such a device. You could employ around 120 new policemen/women for 10 years with that kind of money. Surely this would be better use of the money.
