Beware of DAT files
With the thousands of drivers and applications being loaded on your PC each time you install a new software, it's hard to keep up with all the file extension names that you should be aware of. However, I've recently come upon a virus that hid itself as a File Extension DAT. Now DAT files in themselves are not dangerous. It's usually a generic data file used by a variety of applications.
Since the File Extension DAT is used by a variety of applications, trying to delete or remove every DAT files is time consuming, the DAT files that you may be trying to remove may be an important file for a particular application. In order to protect yourself from malicious DAT files, it's best that you equip yourself with an Antivirus software. Antivirus software will flag all DAT files that are used by some viruses and it will also quarantine, clean, or delete these files.
