Satellite TV vs. Cable

So the never ending debate about which service is better, cable or Satellite continues. I've been looking into a new service provider since I would be moving to a new place in a couple of months. I've previously been using cable but my service provider only offers a few measly HD channels and the promise of DirectTV, that they're offering over 23k HD channels seems tempting.

Now while it is true that in June, analog signals would be turned off and all you would be getting is digital signal, it doesn't really mean that with "digital", you're getting an HD signal. According to an article I've read, the FCC gave Dish and Direct TV to downgrade HD channels to standard definition until 2013 because HD signals sucks bandwidth. So it means, technically, DirecTV might be offering you 23k HD channels, but it doesn't mean that they're broadcasting all of these channels in HD, you might actually be seeing a standard definition signal of that HD channel.

Still 23k HD channels is still better than only 5 HD channels. Because even if DirectTV many not be broadcasting all of these channels in HD, you can bet that they have more than 10 HD channels which they are broadcasting in full HD. So maybe I'll be giving Satellite TV a try this year.
