Fixing and upgrading a Macbook

So as you might as well know, I'm not a Mac person. I've always used windows on all my PCs. However, I do know some friends who prefer Macs. I really don't know what it is about Macbooks, for one thing, retailers carrying Macbook Pro Memory is a bit hard to come by especially where I come from. There's an Apple store nearby but the cost of the memory plus the service fee they charge for replacing or upgrading your memory is a bit steep and my friend would have probably been better off buying a new Macbook instead of the one off eBay.

That being said, there are online stores that sell Macbook Pro Memory for half the price they're charging at the Apple Store. Installing the memory is pretty easy and Apple's documentation of how it's done is really easy to follow and you can probably do it yourself in five minutes. As for repairing a Macbook which is out of warranty, there are a lot of people who can help you at Mac forums and there are also websites that would do the job for you at half the price than what Apple is charging.
