For those concerned with personal privacy, UK cops insist that the fingerprint scanned on these mobile fingerprint scanners will not be stored or added in any databases. They insist that the fingerprint scanners will only be used to identify potential suspects when their identity cannot be established.

The project costs £30 millionto £40 million during the initial phase only. Deployment will be within 18 months. And as if mobile fingerprint scanners weren't enough, they'd also be deploying facial recognition systems. Hmm, we'll probably see them touting expensive cameras soon. Lucky cops...
