Vista Blue Screen Part III

Okay, as I've mentioned before, I've been getting Blue Screen errors on my laptop. First was due to the NDIS.SYS and the HSSDRV.sys drivers. After uninstalling Hotspot Shield since the HSSDRV.sys was associated with this program, I still keep getting the blue screen error due to HSSDRV.sys. I tried searching my whole PC so that I could manually remove this file since I've already uninstalled the program associated with it but I couldn't find it anywhere.

So I think this may be due to some uninstall information still lodged in the registry. I downloaded a registry cleaner and then scanned my whole system. Well, I went two straight days without the blue screen error so hopefully, the registry clean might hav solved my problems. Then again, I might have jinxed it by publishing this post and I might get the Blue screen error anytime now...But if I don't do a follow up post, that means everything's A-OK.

Quite a few people are having this problem, seemingly after updating AVG around 30th January. Do you have AVG? I had multiple BSOD and finally solved it by uninstalling Hotspot Shield, manually deleting the hssdrv.sys driver from the Win32 folder, and uninstalling Hotspot Shield from my LAN properties (which I never even knew existed). Just thought I'd mention what I did in case you're still having problems

Thanks. I'll try the LAN properties. I don't have AVG but I do have Trend Micro. I can't find the hssdrv.sys on the win32 folder. It seems that I did jinx it by posting about it coz my laptop just blue screened on me again yesterday.

Uh oh, I'm sorry I meant the Windows > System32 > drivers folder (dunno why I said Win32...). If it's not there then I would assume the blue screen would be mentioning another driver as having the error... is it? And I really would recommend uninstalling anything you see with the Hotspot Shield's name in the LAN properties, because after I deleted the driver, I couldn't access the internet without doing this. Not sure if the same would apply to you, but it's worth knowing just in case. Good luck! I know how frustrating this can be!
