Geeky Valentine's
Okay, so are geeks meant to be romantic? The popular answer is of course, no. Their idea of romance will probably be renting your favorite movie at blockbuster and then hanging out at your parent's place, no popcorn. However, sometimes, lucky gals will hit the jackpot and find a man who has both brains and a hopeless romantic to boot.
Anyways, here's a true geeky Valentine's story. A friend of mine was planning to take his girl out to a romantic picnic under the stars on Valentine's day. He already has hisflowers, a bottle of champagne, food, and warm blankets. Anyways, mother nature doesn't seem to agree with him and it looks like it was going to be a cloudy, starless night for him. Luckily, this guy is a genius and a gadget geek too. He has a 40 inch LCD TV at his home and bought his younger sister a Sega HomeStar planetarium a few years back. So what he did was he cleared out his living room, downloaded an HD sampler with some videos of the cityscape night lights and popped it in his HD TV, popped in some nature music (babbling brook and crickets), and then borrowed his sister's HomeStar Planetarium.
The effect? A picnic under the stars with a view of the city lights all inside his living room. His girlfriend was pretty impressed and at first she was disappointed when her boyfriend parked inside their driveway. She thought that they would just watch rented movies on Valentine's Day but she was wrong. Yeah, I guess it is kinda cheesy but well, it was romantic for me.
So see, who says guys who're fascinated by gadgets are unromantic?
